We work with these United Way Agency partners:
- TURN Community Services
We partner with TURN to provide adult day care to individuals with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia.
Without United Way, our agency could not offer any caregiver respite services to families in Washington County.
Human needs in Washington County:
Approximately 2,000 individuals in Washington County have Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia.
As many as 80% of those affected are cared for at home by family members who need resources and support.
Eighty percent of Alzheimer's caregivers suffer from high levels of stress, and nearly half suffer from depression.
Caregiver respite has been shown to improve caregivers' physical health and emotional health, as well as improve well-being for the person with Alzheimer's disease. Many Washington County caregivers say that without respite care, they would have to move their loved ones into a nursing home.
Our Agency & United Way
"United Way Dixie has been integral in our agency's ability to offer respite care to families in Washington County who are affected by Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia. Caregivers are the silent heroes of our society, and through the respite program funded by United Way Dixie, caregivers can take a much needed break while knowing that their family members are receiving quality care."
