United Way Dixie Day of CaringOur annual United Way Dixie Day of Caring was held Thursday September 6th and Friday September 7, 2007 at Vernon Worthen Park. We kicked off our event with a wonderful breakfast donated by Staheli Catering for the volunteers who signed up to do projects in our community for our partner organizations. The familiar colorful helping hands logo has represented United Way, for many years. On United Way Day of Caring in September, hands are more than a symbol. These are the hands of caring individuals and employees from businesses in Washington County that generously give of their time to come together to serve in our community. These projects are made possible by generous businesses that donate all or a portion of the items needed to complete these gifts of service. Volunteers begin their day with a continental breakfast and a short ceremony highlighting service by community members and businesses. The volunteers then go to United Way Dixie's partner non-profit organizations to do a service project. It can be mentoring a young person, driving someone who is homebound, serving a meal to someone in a nursing home or giving of your time to someone who is lonely. United Way Dixie is dedicated to improving lives in Washington County by mobilizing the caring hands of people in our community. Together we can make a difference.
